From May 15th to 17th, Palma de Mallorca became the hub of Clinical Nutrition, hosting the 39th Congress of the Spanish Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (SENPE). Under the esteemed presidency of Dr. Margarita Lozano Fuster of Hospital General de Palma, HU Son Espases, the congress featured a cutting-edge scientific program tailored to the interests of healthcare professionals in the field of Clinical Nutrition.
Marga Prohens, President of the Balearic Government, inaugurated the congress, emphasizing the critical role of nutritional education and the leadership of professionals in this field in fostering a healthy lifestyle among the people.
The congress brought together a panel of top-tier experts who explored a wide range of topics, including nutrition for complex chronic patients, the link between nutrition and sarcopenia, the latest in pediatric nutrition, metabolic diseases, and continuity of care in malnutrition.
In addition to large sessions, the congress facilitated intimate small group meetings with experts, enabling attendees to engage directly with renowned professionals. Discussions covered research procedures in Clinical Nutrition, practical applications of indirect calorimetry for non-critical hospitalized patients, the role of micronutrients, and the use of teduglutide in patients reliant solely on fluid therapy.
Demonstrating its commitment to nurturing future leaders, SENPE dedicated a special segment of the congress to young researchers.
Overall, 278 scientific communications were presented, including 256 in poster format and 22 as oral presentations.
