Green hydrogen has begun to promote the decarbonisation of the Balearic Islands through the supply of fuel for public buses, heat and power generation for public and commercial buildings, and auxiliary power supply for port operations.
That's why Palma has begun operating three green hydrogen buses on different lines, which represent a further step in the city's commitment to sustainable mobility and new fuels.
Palma becomes the second city in Spain, after Barcelona, to incorporate green hydrogen, zero emissions, one hundred percent electric, thanks to the European project Green Hysland Mallorca, which generates hydrogen from photovoltaic panels located in Lloseta, a town located in the center of the island.
This industrial project is the central element of the Power to Green Hydrogen Mallorca project, which received the ‘2021 Cinco Días Award’ for the most innovative business project in the field of new technologies.
This initiative aims to deploy the necessary infrastructure to build a renewable hydrogen ecosystem in Mallorca, as well as contribute to the environmental objectives set by the Government of the Balearic Islands.
For this reason, from the Palma Convention Center, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, we want to highlight our city's commitment to sustainability, which helps us position ourselves as the ideal choice for organizing the major European congresses, cleaner, more sustainable and that make the city of Palma the ideal destination for the MICE sector.
