Meliá Hotels International’s commitment to combat climate change and satisfy the expectations of its stakeholders require that we respond to concerns about environmental protection. That is why we have created Eco-Meet, a responsible management programme for major meetings and events combining maximum professionalism and minimal environmental impact, as well as paying the greatest attention to every detail, including conscious and healthy dining options.
Thanks to Eco-Meet, Palma and its Convention Centre are considered leaders in sustainable congresses and events.
Eco-Meet uses products that have a low environmental impact:
- We do not use plastic bottles.
- Water service in pitchers.
- Pens made of recycled materials.
- Chlorine-free recycled paper using natural ink.
- Reusable coasters made of recycled cardboard.
Eco-Meet promotes responsible consumption:
All stationery, coasters, note pads, folders and pens use recycled materials and Eco-Meet green ink and include references to the attribute.
Eco-Meet uses energy and water efficiently:
- Regulation of event room temperatures.
- Water saving systems in toilets.
- Efficient lighting systems.
- Focus on constant improvement through permanent monitoring and the definition of annual sustainability objectives (SAVE).
Eco-Meet encourages customers to get involved:
- Platform for messages and raising environmental awareness.
- Promotion of recycling and responsible use of resources.
- Information on environmental savings.
Eco-Meet waste management focuses on progressive reduction
Management of urban solid waste and calculation of its environmental impact: plastic, cardboard, paper, glass, organic and residual waste.
Eco-Meet measure the real impact of every event in CO2 kg (including the impact of customer transportation).
Meliá Hotels International will offset the emissions generated by Eco-Meet with a reforestation programme in Mallorca.
