Nearly 1,500 pediatricians meet in Palma at the AEP Congress

05-06-2022

The Palma Congress Center hosted from June 2 to 4 the 68th Congress of the Spanish Association of Pediatrics (AEP), which had to be postponed in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and which has brought together nearly 1,500 pediatricians in the city.

The AEP congresses are designed as an open and shared space for discussion, updating and reflection on the latest trends and developments in research and pediatric care.

The congress was held, for the first time in its history, in a mixed format, face-to-face and online, and served to discuss the issues that most concern pediatricians today, such as the challenge of childhood obesity, addictions to networks and mental health problems aggravated during the pandemic, among others.

Health programs at school and collaboration and coordination between health services and education were also protagonists of the congress. The Balearic Community, host of this 68th Congress of the AEP, is an example of this with projects such as the Health Promoting Educational Centers, the Youth Consultation for adolescents, Balearic School Alert, etc.

“The Palma Congress Center has magnificent facilities and is able to respond to the needs of events such as ours, both to host a large volume of colleagues in person, and by having the technological and audiovisual means that allow the hybrid format” assured Luis Blesa, president of the AEP.

Juan Carlos de Carlos, president of the Balearic Society of Paediatrics, stressed that "thanks to the Congress Palace, Palma has the capacity to be on the map of national and international congresses"
