The “El Economico” Forum held its annual meeting on May 23 at the Palma Congress Center, which after six editions has become a reference meeting for current debate on the islands, bringing together more than 300 guests at the Mallorca Auditorium.
Under the title of "Views of a war", the subject of debate was the global political instability caused by the war in Ukraine and the consequences of the conflict. The president of CaixaBank, José Ignacio Goirigolzarri, took the floor to analyze the current economic trends, under the impact of the war, and assured that “Europe needs more autonomy in energy, security and technology”.
The Spanish Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, claimed the role of the Balearic Islands as a locomotive for the recovery of tourism in Spain and defended the commitment to the model of quality and sustainability.
The event continued with a round table, featuring José Bogas, CEO of Endesa; Agnes Juste. Vice President of the CEOE; Adolfo Utor, president of Balearia; María Inés López-Ibor, professor of Psychiatry and Antoni Riera, director of the Impulsa Foundation. They analyzed the war in Ukraine and shared their different perspectives on the implications of the conflict and the consequences for the Balearic territory, agreeing that the islands have an opportunity to come out stronger.
The president of the Balearic Islands Government, Francina Armengol, closed the act recalling the joint work of the Balearic society to overcome the crisis and called for unity to face the current economic challenges.
