According to a recent survey by SAP Concur, 96% of business travellers are ready to travel again, and 65% are very willing to do so
Meliá Hotels International has reopened 92% of its city hotels worldwide and plans to have them all open by year end
With the return of more normal levels of economic activity and the lifting of travel restrictions, an incipient recovery is being seen in business travel. According to Gabriel Escarrer, “at Meliá, we've never stopped believing in the meaning of travel. Business trips fulfil a very important human and social role that, far from disappearing for ever, we may need now more than ever before. Making contact, connecting with others, the new ideas that only come about through shared experiences, whether that's with our customers, our employees, our suppliers or other stakeholders. Now is the time to be there, on the ground, supporting not only the recovery of business travel, but also the role of business trips as a driver of greater economic activity."
To help achieve this, MeliáPRO, the Meliá B2B programme, has just launched the most ambitious Business Travel campaign in its history. Under the slogan “Let's make the world go round again, because together we're unstoppable", the campaign aims to strengthen relationships with business travellers, travel managers and travel agents, offering them easy-to-use booking tools through meliapro.com as well as benefits in all the company's city hotels worldwide:
To celebrate the launch of the campaign, there will also be a contest on the MeliáPRO social media profiles in which the winner will get one million MeliáRewards points to use to visit hotels all over the world.
Thanks to the extensive network of partners involved in the Meliá loyalty programme, consisting of more than 100 companies that offer benefits and options for earning and redeeming points to members, two leading partner companies in the travel industry, Avis and Iberia, have also joined the Meliá campaign. Avis is offering an extra 15% discount on car rentals and Iberia is giving double the number of Avios to bookers during the campaign.
According to Francisca Mérida, Corporate Senior Director of Sales at Meliá Hotels International, “new business trips will be more efficient, more justified, more sustainable and more intensive in new technology. The trend towards greater “bleisure" travel will also continue as remote work makes it easier for travellers to extend their stays for work reasons. That's why we've been working on adapting our hotels and the customer experience, as well as on our relationship with this important market segment, which when we take Business Travel and MICE together, represent around 25% of all of our company's revenues."
