On December 19, the Palma Congress Center hosted the fifth edition of the Gala de l'Esport, the Balearic sports festival, in which the 2022 Esports Awards were presented to the best athletes and clubs in the last season.
The motorcycle racer Augusto Fernández, the duathlete and cyclist Mavi Garcia, the handball player Rafael Márquez, the motorcycle racer Izan Guevara, the basketball player Noa Djiu or the swimmer Xavi Torres have been some of the athletes awarded in this edition, which has also recognized the work as coaches of Silvia Riera (badminton) and Kiko Martín (canoeing), as well as Mallorca Palma Futsal and Avarca Menorca (volleyball) as the best men's and women's team respectively.
The 'Posam valors a l'esport' prize has been awarded to Tatiana Ferreira (from the 'Football for Equality' association).
The event was chaired by the President of the Balearic Government, Francina Armengol, and the Minister of Afers Socials and Esports, Fina Santiago, and began with a recognition of the 25th anniversary of the Center for Sports of the Islands (CTEIB).
