Palma Book Fair returns to the city

02-06-2019

The XXXVII Palma Book Fair returns to the city one more year to pay tribute to literature and empower the writers and booksellers of the island. People will find the best space to discover new titles and meet some of the most acclaimed authors of the moment.

The Book Fair will be held from May 31 to June 9 in the Paseo del Born, from 11 am to 3 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm. More than one hundred activities will be celebrated, including book presentations, round tables, conversations, book-signings, live music and workshops for children and youth.

The Book Fair will be attended by resident authors in the islands and well known writers such as Guillem Frontera, Fernando Schwartz, Gabriel Janer Handle, Antoni Tugores, Neus Canyelles, Antoni Vidal Ferrando, Biel Mesquida, Climent Picornell, Tomás Vibot, José Carlos Llop, Lorenzo Cure , Caterina Valriu, Laura Gost or Francisco Company. Some other popular authors will come to participate in the Fair such as Rafael Nadal, Javier Sáez, Elisa Victoria, Javier Castillo, Olga de Dios or Nuria Varela.

The booksellers will exhibit on the Paseo del Born hundreds of books for all audiences. This year the fair also aims to enhance the figure of the traditional bookseller as the person who can recommend the most suitable book for each person. As they explain from the guild of booksellers "there is a whole universe of authors and books to discover. We just have to tell the bookseller what we like, how we read, when we read and if we have enough time or not to do it."

The Fair has been organized by the Guild of Booksellers of Mallorca with the sponsorship of the Department of Culture, Heritage and Sports of the Council of Mallorca and the collaboration of the City of Palma, CEGAL and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
