Palma Congress Center hosted the VI Conference of Presidents of Provincial Councils, Cabildos, and Insular Councils on March 20-21, 2025. This event brought together leaders from across Spain to discuss crucial topics for these institutions, including the past, present, and future of intermediate local governments, the challenges of responsible tourism, and digital transformation, with a special focus on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

Organized by the Fundación Democracia y Gobierno Local, the Federación Española de Municipios y Provincias, and the Consell de Mallorca, the conference concluded with a debate, the drafting, and the approval of a joint declaration by all attending presidents, reaffirming their commitment to the discussed topics.

In his opening speech, Llorenç Galmés emphasized the significance of hosting the VI Conference in Mallorca: “As President of the Consell de Mallorca, it is a great honor that our land is, for the first time, the host of this summit, which was last held in Valencia in 2022.” Galmés highlighted that the Conference serves as a periodic forum for meeting and advocating the fundamental role of these institutions for the citizens. “Its purpose is to facilitate the exchange of experiences, reflect on important issues for the local sphere, and serve as a platform to formulate requests and demands,” he added.
