From April 24 to 26, 2025, the Palma Congress Center became the international hub for hand surgery, hosting the SECMA–BSSH Mallorca Hand 2025 Congress. For the first time ever, the Spanish Society for Surgery of the Hand (SECMA) and the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) joined forces to organize a landmark event in the field.
The congress welcomed over 950 registered attendees, with a participant profile made up of 55% Spanish and 45% British professionals. The event also featured a commercial exhibition with 22 leading companies, reinforcing its role as a key meeting point for scientific exchange, innovation, and professional networking in hand surgery.
A highlight of the congress was the tribute to Dr. Marc Garcia-Elías, honoring his outstanding career and invaluable contributions to the specialty.
The official opening ceremony was attended by Marga Prohens, President of the Balearic Islands Government; Manuela García, Minister of Health; and the congress organizers, Drs. Guillem Salvà, Xavi Terrades, and Carlos Heras.
